Meet Rodolfo...

In January 2021, during a family reunion in Peru, an asymptomatic carrier unknowingly infected eight family members with COVID-19. One of them, a man in his 50s, began experiencing symptoms shortly after. Desperate to find a diagnostic facility, he quickly realized the options were either unaffordable or nonexistent.

Peru is just one of many developing countries where access to affordable and effective healthcare diagnostics is a privilege, not a guarantee—especially for those with limited resources. On average, only one in fifty healthcare-labeled facilities in developing countries is equipped with adequate medical tools to screen for infectious diseases like COVID-19. As his condition worsened, the lack of accessible diagnostic resources sealed his fate. He passed away without ever knowing he had contracted the virus.

Rodolfo's story is not unique. The pandemic exposed the deadly gaps in healthcare systems worldwide, especially in low-resource settings where countless people lack access to life-saving resources available in wealthier nations. Diagnostic technologies often rely on resources—like skilled personnel and electricity—that many rural and underserved areas cannot provide.

It’s this heartbreaking reality that inspired the creation of Presixion. Our mission is to develop accessible diagnostic tools, leveraging advancements in lateral flow assays to detect multiple pathogens from a single swab more efficiently. By bringing these technologies to restrictive geographies, we aim to prevent the silent spread of infectious diseases and save lives.

The man in this story was my uncle, Rodolfo. His memory fuels our commitment to ensure no one else suffers the same fate due to a lack of accessible healthcare.
